The ratio of number of male and female employees in a company was 5 ∶ 4. Some new males and females joined the company in the ratio 2 ∶ 3. The total number of employees become 1620 and the ratio of males to females become 68 ∶ 67. Initially what was the total number of employees in the company? Correct Answer 1080

The ratio of the number of male and female employees in a company was 5 ∶ 4.

Let the number of males = 5x

Number of females = 4x

Some new members are joined in the ratio of 2 : 3.

Assume, new males joined = 2p

New females joined = 3p

Now;

(5x + 2p) : (4x + 3P) = 68 : 67

67 × (5x + 2p) = 68 × (4x + 3P)

335x + 134p = 272x + 204p

335x - 272x = 204p - 134p

63x = 70p

x = 10p/9 ----- (1)

And;

(5x + 2P) + (4x + 3p) = 1620

9x + 5p = 1620 -----(2)

Put value of x in equation (2)

9 × (10p/9) + 5p = 1620

15p = 1620

p = 108 and x = 120

Now, the total number of employees = 5x + 4x = 9x

= 9 × 120

= 1080

Hence, "1080" is the correct answer.
