Let Nikolai's monthly income be Rs. x

Then, she decides to donate 20% of Rs. x to a cow shelter trust

She wanted to denote Rs. 20x/100 = x/5

But actually, she donated 70% of this 20% of Rs. x

⇒ 70/100 × x/5

Which is equal to Rs. 4900

∴  = 4900

⇒ x = = 35000

∴ Nikolai’s monthly income is Rs. 35000.
