Suppose petrol will cost 40 paise more than diesel after Z years.

⇒ (53.70 + 0.40z) – (65.30 + 0.15z) = 0.40

⇒ 0.25z – 11.60 = 0.40

⇒ 0.25z = 0.40 + 11.60

⇒ z = 12/0.25 = 48 yrs

∴ Diesel will cost 40 paise more than Petrol after 48 years
