Bunty had candies and chewing gums in his sweet box in the ratio 7 : 13. After he has eaten 8 candies and 11 chewing gums the ratio became 1 : 2. How many candies does he have now? Correct Answer 27

Let initial candies and chewing gums be 7x and 13x respectively.

As mentioned in question (7x – 8)/(13x – 11) = 1/2

Solving it gives x = 5

⇒ Remaining candies = (7x – 8) = 27

∴ He has 27 candies now.
