1:53:40 hours = 1 × 3600 + 53 × 60 + 40 = 3600 + 3180 + 40 = 6820 sec

12:17:34 hours = 12 × 3600 + 17 × 60 + 34 = 43200 + 1020 + 34 = 44254 sec

∴ The bulb was on for = 44254 – 6820 sec = 37434 sec = 623 min 54 sec = 10 hr 23 min 54 sec
