There was a leakage in the petrol tank. If 5 litre of petrol is leaked out per day then it would have lasted for 30 days. If the leakage was 7 litre per day, then it would have lasted for only 24 days. For how many days would the petrol have lasted, if there is no leakage and it was completely used for the vehicle?

There was a leakage in the petrol tank. If 5 litre of petrol is leaked out per day then it would have lasted for 30 days. If the leakage was 7 litre per day, then it would have lasted for only 24 days. For how many days would the petrol have lasted, if there is no leakage and it was completely used for the vehicle? Correct Answer 80 days

Let x litre of petrol is used for transport purpose daily

Then

(x + 5) × 30 = (x + 7) × 24

30 x + 150 = 24 x + 168

6 x = 18

x = 3

Therefore, total quantity of oil = (3 + 5) × 30 = 240 litres

Required number of days = 240/3 = 80 days
