P started a business with Rs. 80000 and after some months Q joined with Rs. 60000. If the profit at the end of the year was divided in the ratio 2 : 1, then after how many months did Q joined the business? Correct Answer 4

Given,

P started a business with = Rs. 80000

After some months Q joined with = Rs. 60000

Profit ratio of P and Q at the end of the year = 2 : 1

Formula:

Profit = Time × Money

Calculation:

Let Q joined for x months.

According to the question

(80000 × 12)/(60000 × x) = 2/1

⇒ 16/x = 2/1

⇒ x = 16/2

⇒ x = 8

∴ Q joined for 8 months.

Now we can say Q joined after = 12 – 8 = 4 months
