A test consists of a total of 100 questions from three sections QA, LR and VA. All questions carry equal marks. QA section contains 35 questions, LR section contains 35 questions and VA section contains 30 questions. A student answered 60 percent from QA section, 40 percent from LR section and 50 percent from VA section correctly. Exactly how many more questions should he have answered correctly to get the pass percentage of 65 percent in the test ? Correct Answer 15
GIVEN:
Total number of questions = 100
Number of questions in QA = 35
Number of questions in LR = 35
Number of questions in VA = 30
Correct attempt by student in QA = 60%
Correct attempt by student in LR = 40%
Correct attempt by student in VA = 50%
CALCULATION:
Passing Percent = 65%
Number of students correctly attempted by student in QA = 60 × 35/100 = 21
Number of students correctly attempted by student in LR = 40 × 35/100 = 14
Number of students correctly attempted by student in VA = 50 × 30/100 = 15
Total number of questions correctly attempted by student = 21 + 14 + 15 = 50
Number of questions fallen short to pass the test = 65 - 50 = 15
∴ The student should have answered 15 more question correctly in order to clear the test.
