A train shuttles between stations A and B, and stops at 5 intermediate stations for 5 mins each. Assume that stations A and B are 60 km apart, and the train is moving at a speed of 50 kmph, how long will it take to reach B? Correct Answer 97 min
Given
Total stations between A and B = 5
Distance between each station = 60 km
Speed of Train = 50 kmph
Wait at Each station = 5 mins
Formula used
Time = Distance / speed
Calculation
A .. 1 .. 2 .. 3 .. 4 .. 5 .. B
Total distance between A and B = 60 km
Time taken to travel 60 km = 60/50 hr
⇒ (60/50) × 60 min
⇒ 72 min
Total waiting time = 5 × 5 = 25 min
∴ Total time taken = 72 + 25 = 97 min
