Ram sells an article at 62.5% profit to Shyam, Shyam sells it to Raju at 12% profit. Raju sells it to Maya at Rs. 55 profit. The difference between the cost price of Maya and cost price of Ram was Rs. 875. How much Shyam paid to Ram for the article ? Correct Answer Rs. 1625

Given -

Ram sells article to Shyam at 62.5% profit

Shyam sells it to Raju at 12% profit

Raju sells it to Maya at Rs. 55 profit

Difference between cost price of Maya and cost price of Ram Rs. 875

Concept used -

net profit = a + b + (ab/100)

Solution -

Let the cost price of Ram = 100x

⇒ cost price of Shyam = 162.5x

⇒ For cost price of Raju,

⇒ {62.5 + 12 + (62.5 × 12/100)}% = 82%

⇒ cost price of Raju = 182x

⇒ Cost price of Maya = 182x + 55

⇒ According to question,

⇒ (182x + 55) - 100x = 875

⇒ 82x = 820

⇒ x = 10

⇒ cost price of Shyam = 162.5x = 162.5 × 10 = Rs. 1625

∴  Shyam paid Rs. 1625 to Ram for the article.
