Coffee cups are purchased by K in following quantities: 3 cups for Rs. 40 and 5 cups for Rs. 60. If K sells all the cups at the rate of 3 cups for Rs. 50, how much gain or loss % is incurred by K?  Correct Answer 33.33%

Given:

CP of 3 cups = Rs. 40

CP of other 5 cups = Rs. 60

SP of 3 cups = Rs. 50

Concept used:

Gain % = (Profit/C.P.) × 100

Gain = S.P – C.P

Calculation:

Total CP of 8 cups = Rs. (40 + 60) = Rs. 100

S.P. of 8 cups = Rs. (50/3) × 8

⇒ Rs. 400/3

⇒ Gain = Rs.

⇒ Rs. 100/3

⇒ Gain% =  × 100%

⇒ 100/3% = 33.33%

∴ K incurred a gain of 33.33%
