Abhay starts a business with Rs. 32,000. After a certain period, Suraj joined him, and invests Rs. 30,000. At the end of the year they divide the profit in the ratio of 8 : 5. After  how much time did Suraj join Abhay? Correct Answer 4 months

Given

Capital amount by which Abhay started the business = Rs. 32000

Suraj invested in the business = Rs. 30000

Ratio of profit they divided at the end of year = 8 : 5

Calculation

Let Suraj invested for months = x months

Ratio of profit = Capital of Abhay × Time: Capital of Suraj × Time

⇒ 8 : 5 = 32000 × 12 : 30000 × x

⇒ x = (32000 × 12 × 5)/(8 × 30000)

⇒ x = 8 Months

∴ Suraj joined Abhay after 4 months.
