Calculation:

According to the question,

R and S have to type a book containing 200 pages,

⇒ R + S = 200

R takes 8 hrs to type 64 pages,

⇒ Efficiency of R = 64/8 = 8 pages/hr

S takes 10 hrs to type 40 pages,

⇒ Efficiency of S = 40/10 = 4 pages/hr

R typed the first 80 pages alone,

⇒ Time taken by R = 80/8 = 10 hr      ----(1)

The last 120 pages were typed by R and S together,

⇒ Time taken by R & S = 120/(4 + 8)   

⇒ Time taken by R & S = 120/12

⇒ Time taken by R & S = 10 hr      ----(2)

⇒ Total time = (1) + (2) = 20 hr

 ∴ Time will be taken to type the complete book is 20 hr.
