Read the information and answer the question. Having set out from home at 10 : 25 am, it took me about 28 minutes to reach the railway station. To my relief, the train was late by 42 minutes. It finally arrived at 11 : 25 am. If the train had arrived on schedule, by how many minutes, I would have been late? Correct Answer 10 minutes

Calculation:

I left home at = 10 : 25 am

I reached the station by = 10 : 25 am + 28 minutes = 10 : 53 am

The train arrived at = 11 : 25 am

The train was late by = 42 min

Train scheduled time was = 11 : 25 am - 42 minutes = 10 : 43 am

I would have been late by 10 : 53 - 10 : 43 = 10 minutes, if the train had arrived on the scheduled time

∴ I was late by 10 minutes.
