A pudding of mass 900 g has three ingredients : flour, sugar and butter. There is three times as much flour as sugar, and two times as much sugar as butter. How much flour (in g) is there in the recipe?  Correct Answer 600

Given:

Total mass = 900 g

There is three times as much flour as sugar, and two times as much sugar as butter

Calculation:

Let the recipe of butter be x

Then,

Sugar is two times as much as butter = (2 × x) = 2x

Flour is three times as much as sugar = (3 × 2x) = 6x

According to the question

⇒ (6x + 2x + x) = 900

⇒ 9x = 900

⇒ x = 100

The flour in the recipe = 6x = (6 × 100)

⇒ 600 g

∴ The required flour is 600 g
