Geeta can assemble a toy in 10 minutes, whereas Sudha can assemble the same toy in 15 minutes. If they work together, how much time will they take to assemble 60 toys? Correct Answer 6 hours

Given:

Geeta can assemble a toy in 10 minutes.

Sudha can assemble the same toy in 15 minutes.

Concept used:

Entire work = Work done in each minute × Time taken (in minutes)

Calculation:

LCM (10,15) = 30

Let the entire work (making a toy) be the LCM of the time taken by Geeta & Sudha.

So, the entire work =  30 units

Geeta does in a minute = 30 ÷ 10 = 3 units of work

Sudha does in a minute = 30 ÷ 15 = 2 units of work

Time taken to finish the entire work together = 30 ÷ (3 + 2) = 6 minutes

So, time taken to make 60 toys together = 6 × 60 = 360 minutes = 6 hours

∴ If they work together, they will take 6 hours to assemble 60 toys.
