A ladder is leaning against a vertical wall. The ladder is 9 meter high. When the foot of the ladder is taken 3 meter awaythen the top of the ladder reach equal to the bottom of the wall. What is the height of wall?  Correct Answer √45 meters

From the given data,

Height of the ladder = 9 m

Also given that the foot of the ladder is taken 3 meter away, then the top of the ladder reach equal to the bottom of the wall

Let us x be the distance between wall and ladder

⇒ x + 3 = 9

⇒ x = 6 m

 ∴ let us ΔABCwill be formed with BC = 9 m and AC = 6 m

⇒ BC2 = AC2 + AB2

⇒ 92 = 62 + AB2

⇒ AB2 = 81 - 36 = 45

⇒ AB = √45 m

∴ Height of the wall is √45 m
