In the following question, 3 statements are given. You have to find which is/are necessary and sufficient to answer the following question. In a parking lot, total 175 vehicles are parked, in which some are two wheelers and some are four wheelers. Find the number of two wheelers. Statement I∶ The parking fee of a two wheeler is Rs. 20 and that of a four wheeler is Rs. 35. Statement II∶ Total number of wheels when counted is 520. Statement III∶ Total parking fee collected is Rs. 4775.

4775. Correct Answer Either statement I and III together or statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.

Suppose the number of four wheelers and two wheelers are ‘a’ and ‘b’ respectively;

∴ a + b = 175        ---- (1)

Statement II∶

Total number of wheels when counted is 520;

∴ 4a + 2b = 520        ---- (2)

Statement I and III∶

The parking fee of a two wheeler is Rs. 20 and that of a four wheeler is Rs. 35 and Total parking fee collected is Rs. 4775;

∴ 20a + 35b = 4775        ---- (3)

By solving Either equation 1 and 2 or equation 1 and 3, we can get the value of ‘a’ and ‘b’;

∴ Either statement I and III together or statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
