Mohan has finished fencing 1/4th of the area of rectangular garden which is 12 ft wide. When he finishes fencing another 90 sq. ft of the garden, he would have finished 2/5th of the area. What is the length of the garden? Correct Answer 50 ft

Let the area of the garden be ‘x’ sq. ft.

Now, According to question,

⇒ (1/4) of x + 90 = (2/5) of x

⇒ (x/4) + 90 = (2x/5)

⇒ 90 = (2x/5) - (x/4)

⇒ 90 = (8x - 5x)/20

⇒ 90 = (3x/20)

⇒ 3x = 90 × 20

⇒ x = (1800/3)

⇒ x = 600

Area of the garden = 600 sq. ft.

Length = Area/Width = 600/12 = 50 ft.

∴ The length of the garden will be 50 ft.
