The kinetic energy of an object of mass m, which moving with a velocity of 5 ms-1, is 25 J. What will be its kinetic energy when its velocity is doubled? Correct Answer 100 J

The correct answer is 100 J.

Let the mass be m

⇒ v = 5m/s

⇒ K.E = 25 J

⇒ K.E = 1/2 mv2  = 25 J

⇒ K.E  = 1/2 m (5)^2

 = 25 x 2 = 25m = 2 kg

Now if the velocity becomes 2 times then the velocity is 2 x 5 = 10 m/s

Now new K.E = 1/2 x 2 x 102 = 100 J
