The potential difference between the terminals of an electric heater is 60 V when it draws a current of 4 A from the source. What current will the heater draw if the potential difference is increased to 165 V? Correct Answer 11 A
The correct answer is option 4 i.e 11 A.
The potential difference of the heater = 60 V
⇒ Current I = 4 A
⇒ Resistance =?
⇒ According to ohm's law,
⇒ V = IR
⇒ R = V/I
⇒ R = 60/4 = 15 Ohms
Now if the potential is increased to 165 V
⇒ I = ?
⇒ V = IR
⇒ I = V/R
= 165/15 =11 A
