One end of the ladder is in contact with a wall and the other end is in contact with level ground making an angle of 40° when the foot of the ladder is moved through a distance ‘x’ m away from the wall, the end in contact with wall sides ‘3m’ along the wall and the angle made by the ladder with the level is, now 20°. Then, find the value of x?

Then, find the value of x? Correct Answer <span lang="EN-IN" style=" line-height: 107%; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">3√3 m</span>

Concept used:

Calculation:

Here, α = 40°, β = 20°, b = 3 m, a = x

∴ x = 3 × tan

⇒ x = 3 × tan(60° / 2)

⇒ x = 3 × tan 30°

⇒ x = 3 × √3

⇒ x = 3√3 m
