Three friends Shimoli, Pooja, and Vidhi decide to pay their travel fare during a trip in the ratio of 2 : 3 : 4. Shimoli pays the first day’s fare which amounts to Rs. 500, Pooja pays the second day’s fare which amounts to Rs. 600 and Vidhi pays the third day’s fare which amounts to Rs. 700. When they settle their accounts, how much money does Vidhi has to pay to Shimoli? Correct Answer 100/-
Calculation:
Total fare for 3 days = 500 + 600 + 700
⇒ 1800
∴ According to their agreement
Shimoli has to pay = 2/(2 + 3 + 4) × 1800
⇒ 2/9 × 1800
⇒ 400
Pooja has to pay = 3/(2 + 3 + 4) × 1800
⇒ 3/9 × 1800
⇒ 600
Vidhi has to pay = 4/(2 + 3 + 4) × 1800
⇒ 4/9 × 1800
⇒ 800
Hence, we can see that Shimoli paid 100/- more and Vidhi paid 100/- less.
So, Vidhi has to pay 100/- to Shimoli.
