Some fruits are distributed between 2 children. One of them got 10 more than the other. One who got more fruits gets fruits equal to 60% of the sum of total fruits. Number of fruits they get respectively: Correct Answer 30, 20

Given:

One from two children got 10 more fruits than the other.

One who got more gets fruits equal to 60% of the sum of the total fruits.

Concept:

x as a percent of y = x/y × 100

Percentage increase = (increase in the quantity/original quantity) × 100

Calculation:

Let number of fruits got be first child be x,

Number of other child = x + 10

According to the question

⇒ (x + x + 10) × 60/100 = (x + 10)

⇒ (2x + 10) × 3/5 = (x + 10)

⇒ 6x + 30 = 5x + 50

⇒ 6x – 5x = 50 – 30

⇒ x = 20

Number of fruits of other child = 20 + 10 = 30

∴ Number of fruits they get respectively are 30, 20

Short Trick:

We can solve this using option

Let the students got 20 and 30 marks, then

⇒ (20 + 30) × 60/100 = 30

⇒ 50 × 60/100 = 30

⇒ 30 = 30 (satisfied)

∴ Number of fruits they get respectively are 30, 20
