A sum of Rs. 12,500 is distributed among A, B, C and D such that A gets Rs. 800 more than what B gets, C gets twice of what B gets and D gets Rs. 900 more than what A gets. The ratio in which D, C, B and A receive the sums is:

A sum of Rs. 12,500 is distributed among A, B, C and D such that A gets Rs. 800 more than what B gets, C gets twice of what B gets and D gets Rs. 900 more than what A gets. The ratio in which D, C, B and A receive the sums is: Correct Answer 37 : 40 : 20 : 28

Let amount B gets be Rs. x, then

Amount of C = 2 × x = 2x

Amount of A = x + 800

Amount of D = x + 800 + 900 = x + 1700

According to the question

x + 800 + x + 2x + x + 1700 = 12,500

5x + 2500 = 12,500

5x = 12500 – 2500

5x = 10000

x = 10000/5

x = 2000

Amount received by A = 2000 + 800 = 2800

Amount received by B = 2000

Amount received by C = 2 × 2000 = 4000

Amount received by D = 2000 + 1700 = 3700

Ratio of amount of D, C, B and A = 3700 : 4000 : 2000 : 2800 = 37 : 40 : 20 : 28

Quick Hint:

As given C is more than B, so only option 1 and 4 might be correct.

As given D is more than A, so only option 4 must be correct.
