The given histogram shows the height of the students. The number of students whose height is in the class interval 170-175 is what percent less than the number of students whose height is in the interval of 165-170? (correct to one decimal place) Correct Answer 14.3%
Given:
|
Height (in cm) |
Number of students |
|
150-155 |
15 |
|
155-160 |
13 |
|
160-165 |
10 |
|
165-170 |
14 |
|
170-175 |
12 |
|
175-180 |
6 |
Calculation:
Number of students in the interval of 170-175 = 12
Number of students in the interval of 165-170 = 14
Difference = 14 – 12 = 2
Percentage = (Difference/Number of students in the interval of 165-170) × 100
⇒ Percentage = (2/14) × 100
⇒ Percentage ≈ 14.28 ≈ 14.3
∴ Students in the class interval of 170-175 are nearly 14.3% less than the students in the class interval of 165-170
