Calculation:

Let the average age of the team be x.

Total age of captain + wicket-keeper = 26 + (26 + 3) = 55 years

Sum of age of all payers = 11 × x = 11x

Total age of all players except captain and wicket keeper = 11x - 55

Number of players except captain and wicket keeper = 11 - 2 = 9

Average of all players except captain and wicket-keeper = (11x - 55)/9

Then, (11x - 55)/9 = x - 1

⇒ x = 23

∴ The average age of the team is 23.
