In a fruit market there is a discount on apples and pineapples. Therefore, 30 percent of the public purchase pineapples whereas 60 percent of the remaining purchase apples. The left out people purchase other fruits. If the difference between the number of persons who purchase pineapple and those who purchase other fruits is 600, then how many persons came to purchase fruit in the market? Correct Answer 30000
Given:
People purchasing pineapple = 30%
People purchasing apple = 60% of remaining
People purchasing other fruits = 10%
Calculation:
Total persons came to purchase fruit in the market = x
persons purchase pineapples = (30/100)x
Remaining people = (100 - 30)x/100 = 70x/100
persons purchase apples = (70x/100)(60/100)x = 42x/100
persons purchase other fruits = x - (30x/100) - (42x/100) = 28x/100
According to the question,
⇒ (30/100)x – (28/100)x = 600
⇒ (2/100)x = 600
⇒ x = 30000
∴ Persons came to purchase fruit in the market is 30000
