Suppose the total number of person who like both tea and coffee is x%.
Therefore, number of person who like only tea = (35 – x)%
Number of person who like only coffee = (49 – x)%
Number of person who like neither tea nor coffee = 23%
According to question –
⇒ (35 – x)% + x% + (49 – x)% + 23% = 100%
⇒ (107 – x)% = 100%
⇒ x = (107- 100)%
⇒ x = 7%
According to question –
⇒ 7% = 77
⇒ 1% = 11
⇒ 100% = 1,100
∴ The total number of people in the village participated in the survey = 1,100
