Causes-
- Scraps
- Hematoma or bruise.
- wound (cut)
- Puncture wounds from objects such as needles, nails, or knives.
- Gunshot wound.
Additional Information Classification of Bleeding
- Class I Hemorrhage loss of up to 15% of blood volume
- Class II Hemorrhage loss of 15-30% of total blood volume
- Class III Hemorrhage loss of 30-40% of circulating blood volume
- Class IV Hemorrhage loss of >40% of circulating blood volume.
Management Algorithm of bleeding control (Steps)
- Apply direct pressure on the cut or wound with a sterile cloth, tissue, or piece of gauze until bleeding stops. The most suitable materials are Gamjee pads.
- If the material is soaked with blood don't remove it, apply some more gauze or pad over that
- If the wound is on the limbs, raise the limb above heart level to slow down the bleeding
- Apply pressure over some arteria pressure points
- If severe bleeding cannot be controlled by direct pressure, apply a tourniquet.
- Immediately shift the patient to a medical care facility.
