Number of girls who did not participate = 180

Calculation:

Let the total students be 100x

Number of students who participated in an event = 100x × (60/100) = 60x

Number of students who did not participated in an event = 100x – 60 = 40x

Number of boys and number of girls participating in the event is same, then

Number of boys who participating in event = Number of girls who participating in event = 60x/2 = 30x

Number of boys who do not participate in event is as same as the number of boys who participating in event, then

Number of boys who did not participate in event = 30x

So, number of girls who did not participate in event = 40x – 30x = 10x

According to the question

10x = 180

x = 18

Total number of students = 100x = 100 × 18 = 1800
