Yadu
- Yadu is mentioned as the five early Indo-Aryan tribes mentioned in the Rigveda.
- The Yadus were located a long distance from the Rig Vedic tribes.
Puru
- The Purus were the inhabitants of the core Rigvedic area and inhabited Haryana and adjacent areas.
- They had, in particular, had their sub-tribe as the Bharatas, who were the “Vedic Aryans”
Chedi
- Chedi was one of an ancient Indian Mahajanapada, a kingdom which fell roughly in the Bundelkhand, Madhya Pradesh regions to the south of river Yamuna along the river Ken.
- Its capital city was called Suktimati or Sotthivati.
Matsya
- The Matsya Kingdom was one of the sixteen Mahajanapadas (great kingdoms) during Vedic times.
- It is described in the Hindu epic Mahabharata and 6th BCE Buddhist text Anguttara Nikaya.
- Its capital was Viratnagar.
