Given:

Ratio of share of man’s wealth among 3 sons and wife = 4 : 5 : 7 : 8

Difference between the share of wife and share of 3 sons = Rs. 16000

Calculation:

Let the share of wealth of man among 3 sons and wife be ‘4a’, ‘5a’, ‘7a’ and ‘8a’ respectively

Total share of 3 sons = 4a + 5a + 7a = 16a

Difference of share of wife  and 3 sons = 16a – 8a = 8a

According to the question,

⇒ 8a = Rs 16000

⇒ a = Rs. 2000

Total worth of man = 4a + 5a + 7a + 8a = 24a = 24 × 2000 = Rs. 48000

∴ The total worth of man is Rs. 48000.
