Five channels each with 100 kHz bandwidth are to be multiplexed together. What is the minimum bandwidth of the link, if there is a need for a guard band of 10 kHz between the channels to prevent interference?
Five channels each with 100 kHz bandwidth are to be multiplexed together. What is the minimum bandwidth of the link, if there is a need for a guard band of 10 kHz between the channels to prevent interference? Correct Answer 540 kHz
Concept:
Total Bandwidth required = Total channel bandwidth + (n-1)× Guard band
where;
n → Number of channels
Total channel bandwidth = n × (Bandwidth of each channel)
Calculation:
Given;
Bandwidth of each channel = 100 kHz
Number of channel (n) = 5
Guard band = 10 kHz
Total Bandwidth required = (5 × 100) + {(5 - 1) × 10} = 540 kHz
