Anita made a mixed fruit jam containing 30% mango, 20% apple, 30% banana and 20% pineapple. What quantity of pineapple must be added to 200 g of jam such that the % of mango becomes 25%? Correct Answer 40 g

Initially, amount of pineapple in the jam = 20% of 200 = 40 g

Initially, amount of mango in the jam = 30% of 200 = 60g

Let the amount of pineapple to be added be x g.

⇒ 60 g = 25% of (200 + x)

⇒ 60 = 0.25 × (200 + x)

⇒ 200 + x = 60/0.25

⇒ x = 240 - 200 = 40

∴ 40 g of pineapple has to be added.
