A dishonest shopkeeper sells the sugar packets at a rate of Rs. 36 per packet of 1 kilogram. The cost price of a packet is Rs. 30. As though not satisfied with this, he tries to multiply his profit by removing 200 gm from each packet. What is the shopkeeper’s gain percentage? Correct Answer 50%
Given that:
Cost price of 1000 gm of sugar (1 packet) = Rs. 30
Since he removes 200 gm from each packet
⇒ Cost price of 800 gm of sugar = (800/1000) × 30 = Rs. 24
Since the selling price of a packet is Rs. 36
∴ Profit percentage = (36 – 24) /24 = 50%
