The difference in number of red and blue pants is 70 and average number of red and blue pants in a box is 125. The number of unsold blue pants are what percent of number of unsold red pants? Correct Answer 52.5%
Let number of red and blue pants be B and R respectively.
Given,
R – B = 70 …………….. (i)
(R + B)/2 = 125
⇒ R + B = 250 ………………. (ii)
On solving (i) and (ii), we get
R = 160 and B = 90
Given,
⇒ 67 = (160 × 25/100) + (90 × (?/100))
⇒ 67 = 40 - 9(?/10)
⇒ 27 = 9(?/10)
⇒ ? = 30
Number of unsold blue pants = 90 × 70/100 = 63
Number of unsold red pants = 160 × 75/100 = 120
Required percentage =
= (63/120) × 100
= 52.5%
