Let cost of each ice cream, burger and soft drink is x, y and z respectively.

3x + 2y + 4z = 128      ---- (i)

2x + y + 2z = 74      ---- (ii)

Multiply 3 × (ii) and 2 × (i), we get

6x + 3y + 6z = 222      ----(iii)

6x + 4y + 8z = 256      ----(iv)

substract equation (iv) to equation (iii)

y + 2z = 34

Multiply the above equation by 5 

we get,

5 (y + 2z) = 5 × 34

5y + 10z = 170 

∴ cost of 5 burgers and 10 soft drinks = 34 × 5 = 170
