A starts a business by investing Rs. 50000. After 3 months B joins the business by investing Rs. 80000. After 5 months of B's joining, C also joins them by investing Rs. 90000. After one year they make Rs. 42000 in profit. What is B's share in the profit? Correct Answer Rs. 18000

The ratio of their profit = (A's investment × time) : (B’s investment × time) : (C’s investment × time)

⇒ (50000 × 12) : (80000 × 9) : (90000 × 4) = (60 : 72 : 36) = (5 : 6 : 3)

⇒ B’s share = (42000 × 6/14) = 18000

∴ B's share in profit is Rs. 18000.
