Area of an isosceles trapezium is 216 cm2 and perpendicular distance between parallel sides is 12 cm. If one of the parallel sides is 10 cm longer than the other parallel side, then what is the length of diagonal of the trapezium?
Area of an isosceles trapezium is 216 cm2 and perpendicular distance between parallel sides is 12 cm. If one of the parallel sides is 10 cm longer than the other parallel side, then what is the length of diagonal of the trapezium? Correct Answer 6√13 cm
Suppose BC = x and AD = (x + 10)
CE = 12 cm
Area of trapezium = (1/2) × (x + x + 10) × 12 = 216
2x = 26
x = 13
AE = x + (10/2) = 18 cm
In ΔACE∶
AC2 = AE2 + CE2
AC2 = 182 + 122 = 468
AC = 6√13 cm
