Faraz went on a cross-country trip. From the base camp, he went 4 km straight towards east. Then taking a left turn, he went for 2 km. from there, he turned right and went for 2 km. Then, he turned left and went another 6 km to reach a lake. What is the shortest distance from the base camp to the lake?

Shortest distance between base camp and lake, using the Pythagoras theorem,
Distance = √(62 + 82) = √(36 + 64) = √100 = 10km
Hence “ 10 km” is the correct answer.
