The sum of three consecutive odd numbers and three consecutive even numbers together is 471. Also, the largest even number is 15 more than the largest odd number. What is the sum of the smallest odd number and the smallest even number? Correct Answer 153

Let smallest odd number be x.

Three consecutive odd numbers are,

x, x + 2 , x + 4

Largest even number = (x + 4) + 15 = x + 19

Three consecutive even numbers are,

x + 15, x + 17, x + 19

x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 15 + x + 17 + x + 19 = 471

6x + 57 = 471

x = 69

Smallest even number = x + 15 = 69 + 15 = 84

Sum of smallest odd number and smallest even number = 69 + 84 = 153
