প্রত্যেক জাতির বিশেষ কতকগুলো দিন থাকে যার মর্যাদা ও গুরুত্ব অত্যধিক। জাতির অগ্রগতি ও চেতনার পেছনে সেসব কাজ করে। স্বাধীনতা দিবস তেমনি একটি বিশেষ তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ দিন। স্বাধীনতা দেশের সবচেয়ে মূল্যবান সম্পদ। যে জাতি পরাধীন সে জাতির কোন গৌরব নেই। স্বাধীনতা জাতিকে আত্মমর্যাদাসম্পন্ন করে তোলে। তাই জাতির জীবনে স্বাধীনতার সীমাহীন গুরুত্ব রয়েছে। যে দিবসটিতে স্বাধীনতা অর্জিত হয়েছিল সে দিনকে তাই স্মরণ করে জাতীয় জীবনে তা প্রেরণা অনুভব করা হয়ে থাকে।আমাদের জাতীয় জীবনেও স্বাধীনতা দিবসের অবদান ও অপরিসীম গুরত্ব বিদ্যমান রয়েছে। এক রক্তক্ষয়ী সংগ্রামের মাধ্যমে আমরা স্বাধীনতা অর্জন করেছি। এর জন্য বহু ত্যাগ আমাদের স্বীকার করতে হয়েছে। ১৯৭১ সালের ২৬ শে মার্চ তারিখে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান কর্তৃক বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা ঘোষণা করা হয়েছিল বলে এই দিনই আমাদের স্বাধীনতা দিবস হিসেবে চিহ্নিত হয়ে আছে। সেই মহান দিনের কথা স্মরণ করেই প্রতি বছর ছাব্বিশে মার্চ স্বাধীনতা দিবস পালন করা হয়। আমাদের জাতীয় জীবনে স্বাধীনতা দিবসের সীমাহীন তাৎপর্য অনুসরণ করে থাকি। পরাধীনতা আর শোষণের যাতনা থেকে আমরা এই দিনে মুক্তি পেয়েছিলাম। স্বাধীনতা প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য বাঙালির সংগ্রাম এই দিনে শুরু হয়েছিল। স্বাধীনতা দিবসে তাই আমাদের মর্যাদা নতুন করে উপলব্ধি করার সময়। নিজেদেরও চেনার সুযোগ নিয়ে আসে এই দিনটি।জাতীয় জীবনের কর্তব্য সম্পর্কেও এই দিন সচেতন হওয়া যায়। স্বাধীন জাতি হিসেবে আমাদের মর্যাদা রক্ষা করতে হলে তার জন্য উপযুক্ত হয়ে আমাদের তৈরি হতে হবে। স্বাধীনতা অর্জনের চেয়ে তা রক্ষা করা অনেক কঠিন। তাই নিজেদের সুশৃঙ্খল জাতি হিসেবে গড়ে উঠার মাধ্যমে সংগ্রামের সাফল্য নির্ভর করে। সমৃদ্ধ জাতি হিসেবে গড়ে উঠার জন্য স্বাধীনতা দিবস আমাদের কর্তব্য-সচেতন করে। স্বাধীনতা দিবস আমাদের গৌরবের কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়-নতুন করে শপথ নেবার সুযোগ আনে স্বাধীনতা দিবস । (Translate from Bangla to English)

Every nation has some special days which are of great significance and importance. These days work behind the advancement and consciences of the nation. Independence Day is such a kind of special significant day.

Independence is the most valuable wealth of a nation. A dependent country has no glory. Independence makes a self-esteemed country. Therefore, there is a boundless importance of independence in the life of a nation. The day in which we achieved independence gives us a feel of inspiration while it is remembered.

Independence Day has a contribution in our national life and it has immeasurable importance too. We have achieved freedom by dint of a blood-shed struggle. We had to sacrifice a lot for it. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared 26 March 1971 as the Independence Day, so this day had been marked as the "Independence day". Remembering this glorious day, we observe 26th March as "Independence day" each year.

We, in our national life, follow the limitless significance of the Independence Day. We relieved from the pangs of dependence and oppression in this day. The struggle was started from this day to establish liberty. So, we should rethink our estimation on this Independence Day. It also gives us a chance to know ourselves.

It also makes us sincere about the responsibilities of our national life. If we are to preserve our estimation as an independent nation, we have to prepare our self in an appropriate way. It is difficult to preserve independence than to attain it.

The success of struggle depends upon a disciplined nation. Independence Day makes us cautious about our duties for growing up a enriched nation. It makes us remembered about glorious story of independence and it helps us taking oath newly.
