How to Treat Nail Fungus and Prevent It from Coming Back
If you’re suffering from nail fungus, there are steps you can take to try and get rid of it and also help prevent it from coming back.
Steps.
- Remove any nail polish and soak your toes in a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar for 15 to 20 minutes a few times a day.
- Apply over-the-counter toenail fungus medication to help fight the fungus.
- Take an anti fungal medicine such as fluconazole or itraconazole that your doctor can prescribe for you.
- Keep your feet dry and clean. Wear yarn socks, and try to change these every day.
- Cut your toenails regularly, keeping them short and above the skin.
- Disinfect any personal items that may come in contact with your feet, such as nail clippers, nail files, and pedicure equipment.
- Avoid going barefoot in public places like gyms, locker rooms, and public showers.
- Wear shoes or sandals when walking on damp surfaces such as pool decks or public showers.
