How to Remove Oil from Floor Tiles

Getting oil on your floor tiles is an unfortunate part of life. Whether it's cooking oil or automotive oil, it's important to properly remove it to keep your floor looking nice and clean. With the right ingredients, you can restore your flooring back to its original glory.

Steps

  • Sweep the floor with a stiff-bristled broom. Remove any dust or dirt that may be stuck in the grooves of your tiles.
  • Mix together three parts baking soda and one part water in a bowl. Stir together to create a paste.
  • Apply the paste to the oil stain on your floor tiles. Rub the paste into the tile with a damp cloth, using gentle circular motions.
  • Let the paste sit for five minutes, then scrub it with a nylon brush. Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water.
  • Mix one teaspoon of liquid dish-washing detergent with two cups of warm water in a bowl. Dip a rag or sponge into the mixture and scrub it on the oil stain.
  • Rinse the area again with clean water and let it dry.
