How to Dance a Basic Step in Salsa
The basic step in salsa is a great starting point for those who are just beginning their dancing journey. With a few simple steps to follow, you'll be shimmying your way across the dance floor in no time!
Instructions:
Start with the basic salsa step. Place your feet together and alternate taking small forward steps on the first and fourth beats of the music. Keep your torso upright as you learn salsa footwork.
On the second and third beats of the music, bring your feet together and shift your bodyweight slightly onto your right foot. Then shift weight to your left side on the following beat.
Continue with the forward steps, adding a slight body turn on the fourth beat of each measure. Let the music move your body and keep the steps light and easy.
Speed up and slow down your steps in response to the changes in the music. You can move your arms either along your sides or up towards your face in a graceful styling move.
Remember to take your time and enjoy yourself! Dancing is a great way to express yourself and have fun. Master the basics and you'll be well on your way to becoming a salsa pro.
