Measures to reduce its impact:

(a) The athlete must be exposed to high level Altitude training. It requires several days for adaptation.

(b) The trainers/coaches to assure the most favourable circumstances for the athlete.

(c) Proper protective clothing is important.

(d) Gloves, caps and double pair stockings are also helpful.

(e) Once athlete starts to warmup and starts to sweat he should remove his excess clothing.

(f) With prolonged stay at altitude, the myobin concentration in both the heart and skeletal muscles increases, which favours acclimatization at high altitude.

(g) The skin tends to be dryer at high altitude, it may also cause sun burn so use of cold cream, sunscreen cream and goggles are advisable.
