In weight training. one can use weights like Dumb-bells, barbells. pully machines or simply one's own body weight as resistance, The children should be exposed to weight training only after 14 years of age. We know the fact that children are in growing stage both physically and physiologically. Their muscles, bones. liagament are in growing stage and are soft. Always begin with light weight and then work your way up. Start with large muscles and then work the smaller ones. Focus your full mental awareness on the muscle group which is being exercised. Give adequate rest to the building muscle. When we give exposure to the child to weight training he should be fully supervised. At this age concentration is on all round strength and general mobility. If one lifts the amount of weight beyond his/her capacity, it can hamper the growth of the children. Even there is a belief that it affects one's height along with endomorph body physique. One can go for heavy weight training programme only after 18 years.
