Option 4 : Ask students to vote on which of four given organs is most important and ask a few students to explain why.
While introducing every concept to the students and important activities should be done to make students interesting and curious about the concept. The concept should be started in such a way that as it progresses further the students should be more involved to construct knowledge. Asking students to vote on which of the four given organs is most important and asking them to explain why would be the best hook activity to introduce the heart as:
- The heart is the most important organ of our body which pumps the blood to hold the body and runs the total circulatory system.
- The students would be given organs like kidneys, heart, liver, and pancreas.
- The students will be individually asked to select one of the organs from the four which they consider to be the most important organs of our body.
- Then each student will be asked to explain the reasons why he or she considers that particular organ to be the more important organ of our body than the other three.
- As the discussion progresses the important functions of the heart will be familiarized to the students and they automatically know the importance of the heart and are so interested to know more about it.
Hence asking students to vote on which of the four given organs is most important and asking them to explain why would be the best hook activity to introduce about heart.
- On the other hand asking the students to draw the shape of the heart, giving them chance to choose if they want to learn about the heart or kidney first, and showing students a movie clip with the heart rate on the monitor or not best hook activities to introduce the topic because in this the curiosity of students and knowledge construction will be less.
