Teacher training- It refers to the procedures, policies, and provisions designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, attitudes, behaviours, and skills they require to perform their tasks effectively in the classroom, school, and wider community.
The commission which proposed the improvement of the quality of the teacher's training is the Kothari commission
- The Kothari Commission was set up under the Chairmanship of Dr D. S. Kothari to formulate a coherent education policy for India
- The commission reviewed almost all aspects of the education system without limiting itself to any one particular aspect,
- The Commission urged that the professional preparation of teachers was the key to the qualitative improvement of education and recommended measures like qualitative improvement in teacher education programmes and expansion of teacher education institutions and recommendations for the training facilities.

- Hunter commission- In 1882 the Government appointed a Commission under the Chairmanship of W.W. Hunter to review the progress of education in the country and to review the policy laid by the Wood's Despatch in 1854.
